CDN Civics and Careers
Toronto Region

COURSE OVERVIEW

Civics & Citizenship and Career Studies come alive as students travel to Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto! Students learn the role Canada plays in an increasingly interconnected global community and start building their own personal definition of “citizenship.” From Parliament Hill to the historic streets of Old Montreal, students see how their career choices can allow them to have a meaningful impact on the world.

Students will write campaign speeches, enact dramatizations about Canadian civics, and get firsthand experience in financial literacy. Along the way, they will visit the Canadian War Museum to deepen their understanding of Canada’s military history and engage in Holocaust education to reflect on human rights and global citizenship. In Toronto, they will visit Queen’s Park to see Ontario’s provincial government in action. In Montreal, they will explore the historic district of Old Montreal, experience Indigenous culture at a local community, and step back in time at a Sugar Shack, experiencing traditional maple syrup production and culture. Evenings are filled with fun and cultural experiences in Old Montreal and Toronto, making for an unforgettable journey!
