COURSE OVERVIEW
Step into the history of Canada in Europe and explore the places where some of the most significant chapters of Canadian history unfolded. Travel through Belgium, France, and the Netherlands while studying Canada’s role in the First and Second World Wars and discovering the stories of the Canadians who served overseas.
Visit the In Flanders Fields Museum, Canadian National Vimy Memorial, and Juno Beach Centre, and experience the powerful Menin Gate Ceremony. Explore the Dieppe Memorial, Canadian War Cemetery, and Caen Memorial while gaining a deeper understanding of Canada’s military history, sacrifice, and legacy.
Beyond the battlefields, discover the rich culture and history of Amsterdam, from its picturesque canals and historic architecture to the Jewish Quarter and stories of resistance during the Second World War. This immersive Canadian history program brings the past to life through meaningful experiences across some of Europe’s most historically significant destinations.
ACTIVITIES

Juno Beach
Visit Juno Beach and learn about the pivotal role Canadian forces played during the D-Day landings in Normandy.
Vimy Ridge Memorial
Explore the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and reflect on the significance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in Canadian history.
Last Post Ceremony
Attend the moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate and honour the soldiers who lost their lives during the First World War.
Canadian War Cemetery
Visit a Canadian war cemetery and discover the stories and sacrifices of Canadians who served during the World Wars.
Anne Frank House
Visit the Anne Frank House and learn about Anne Frank’s story, the Holocaust, and the impact of Nazi persecution during the Second World War.

Online Orientation and First Class

Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

Independent Learning Online

Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.

Pre-Trip Online Classes

Teachers and students will interact in mandatory online classes as students participate in direct teaching, group activities, discussions and presentations.

Teachers are available to answer any questions during designated hours while students complete their culminating assignments.
