COURSE OVERVIEW
Watch Canadian History come to life in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Learn about WWI at the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres, feel national pride at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, and lay a wreath during the Menin Gate Ceremony. Travel to Dieppe for the Dieppe Memorial and Juno Beach Centre, which commemorate the thousands of Canadian lives lost during WWII.
Learn about the fragility of peace at Caen Memorial and the Canadian War Cemetery. Fall in love with the cobblestone streets, canals, the art and architecture of Amsterdam. Explore the historical Jewish Quarter and learn about the resistance that grew in those streets against the Nazis. Stop to smell the tulips at the Flower Market before returning home.

Students participate in the Menin Gate Ceremony: Last Post and the traditional final salute.

MANDATORY DATES

Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

Independent Learning Online
Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.
July 29 - August 1

Teachers and students will interact in mandatory online classes as students participate in direct teaching, group activities, discussions and presentations.

Travel
Experience the course firsthand and make real-world applications.

Teachers and students will interact in mandatory online classes to complete their final assignments.
