Biology In Fiji

COURSE OVERVIEW

Discover the perfect location to bring the world of marine biology to life. Abundant in colourful coral reefs, white sand beaches, and untouched natural environments, Fiji offers amazing opportunities for hands-on educational experience and ecotourism adventures. Visit the Garden of the Sleeping Giant to see thousands of species of orchids and explore the town of Lautoka.

Then have the opportunity to participate in the tagging and releasing of turtles into the wild with an environmental officer. Enjoy a traditional dinner with a Fijian band and fire dance show to finish the trip.

Swim in a natural waterhole in Fiji’s largest national park.

LECTURE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF
SOUTH PACIFIC

Learn from local professors and participate in a tour of the universtiy.

MUD
POOLS
 

Visit mud pools and learn about the unique wildlife that live there.

VISIT TO A LOCAL VILLAGE
 

Students explore the Fijian way of life.

SIGATOKA
SAND DUNES
 

Tour the exotic sand dunes that surround the islands.

MANDATORY DATES

    10:00 am - 3:30 pm

  • Online Orientation and First Class

    Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

  • May 25 – June 29
    (approx. 15 hours)

    *in total to be completed at any convenient time of the student’s choice

  • Independent Learning Online

    Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.

  • July 3 - 4 & 7 - 8
    9:00 am – 3:30 pm

  • Pre-Trip Online Classes

    Teachers and students will interact online as students participate in direct teaching, group activities, discussions and presentations.

  • July 10 - 28

  • Travel

    Experience the course firsthand and make real-world applications.

  • July 30 & July 31
    9:00 am – 12:00 pm

    (asynchronous)

  • Post-Trip Online Classes

    Teachers are available to answer any questions during designated hours while students complete their summative assignments.
