Canadian History in Belgium and France
COURSE OVERVIEW
Step into Canadian history in Belgium and France and explore the places where some of Canada’s most significant wartime stories unfolded. Visit the In Flanders Fields Museum, Canadian National Vimy Memorial, and Juno Beach Centre while learning about Canada’s role in the First and Second World Wars.
Experience the powerful Menin Gate Ceremony, explore the Dieppe Memorial and Canadian War Cemetery, and visit the Caen Memorial to gain a deeper understanding of Canada’s military history, sacrifice, and legacy.
Beyond the battlefields, discover the history and culture of Paris. Take in panoramic views from the Eiffel Tower, stroll along the Champs-Élysées, explore Place du Tertre, and stroll along the Seine while discovering the city’s history during the Second World War. This immersive Canadian history program connects the past with the places and stories that continue to shape Canada’s identity.

Students participate in the Menin Gate Ceremony: Last Post and the traditional final salute.
VIMY RIDGE
MEMORIAL
Learn about the storming of the ridge that occurred on April 9th in 1917.
CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY
Students visit the Second World War burials where a majority of Canadian soldiers lay to rest.
EIFFEL
TOWER
Learn about the 1889 landmark before climbing the stairs for an unbeatable view.

Online Orientation and First Class

Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

Independent Learning Online

Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.
