CDN Civics and Careers
London Region

COURSE OVERVIEW

Civics & Citizenship and Career Studies come alive as students travel to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City! Students learn the role Canada plays in an increasingly interconnected global community and start building their own personal definition of “citizenship.” From Parliament to the historic streets of Quebec City, students see how their career choices can allow them to have a meaningful impact on the world.

Students will write campaign speeches, enact dramatizations about Canadian civics, and get firsthand experience in financial literacy. Along the way, they will visit the Canadian War Museum to deepen their understanding of Canada’s military history and engage in Holocaust education to reflect on human rights and global citizenship. In Quebec, they will explore Montmorency Falls, experience Indigenous culture at the Wendake Community, and step back in time at the Sugar Shack, experiencing traditional Quebec maple syrup production and culture. Evenings are filled with fun and cultural experiences in Old Quebec, making for an unforgettable journey!

ACTIVITIES

Here are some of the exciting experiences included in the program.

A modern building with a minimalist design, featuring large gray stone panels and glass windows, hosts the Civics and Careers Summer School - Grade 10 (July - Ottawa). People are seated inside; young trees line the entrance under partly cloudy skies.
